Optometrist for Camp Lejeune, NC — Carter Motors is seeking an Optometrist to serve the routine and acute eye-care needs of military personnel and their families at Camp Lejeune. Responsibilities
Examine, diagnose, and treat diseases, injuries, or disorders of the visual system, the eye, and associated structures; diagnose related systemic conditions. Provide full spectrum of clinical services to treat the most complex optometric-related patient conditions. Promote prevention and wellness, vision conservation, education and training activities, vision screenings, and positive eye and vision health behaviors. Conduct vision research in a problem area of considerable scope and complexity which requires novel approaches and which results in answers to important questions or changes in existing methods and techniques. Advise and make professional clinical recommendations as to courses of action on problems with national scope in all areas of optometry. Co-manage conditions that affect ocular health and vision and refer patients to secondary/tertiary levels of care when appropriate. Perform examinations of the eyes and visual system to diagnose and treat eye diseases, injuries, and all vision, accommodative, and binocular disorders; include pre- and post-operative assessments where applicable. Evaluate color vision and perception; provide vision therapy as needed. Assess, fit, and prescribe eyeglasses and contact lenses. Prescribe and use diagnostic and therapeutic medications and treatments for pain. Remove superficial ocular foreign bodies and perform epilation as needed; test, analyze, and interpret a range of diagnostic tests, laboratory tests, and imaging of the eye and related structures. Assist during surgery in main and local operating rooms. Perform basic visual acuity tests, distance and near vision measurements, color testing and pinhole vision, contrast sensitivity, lensometry, autorefraction/autokeratometry, ocular motility, automated visual field testing, ophthalmic fundus photography, and corneal topography/pentacam scans where applicable. Provide guidance on glare testing and educate patients on contact lens care. Qualifications
Degree: Doctor of Optometry. Education: Graduation from a school or college approved by the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education (ACOE) of the American Optometric Association. Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice optometry in any state. Hours/Schedule
