Overview
Senior/Lead Electrical & Automation Engineer - EPC Projects for the metals and minerals sector. Lead the design, integration, and commissioning of electrical and automation systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations across major industrial plants. Responsibilities
Lead design and execution of electrical power systems and automation/control systems across all EPC project phases (FEED, detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning). Develop and approve single-line diagrams, I/O lists, instrumentation data sheets, control panel layouts, and SCADA/DCS configurations. Perform and review system studies (load flow, short-circuit, protection coordination, and arc-flash). Ensure compliance with NEC, IEC, IEEE, ISA, and other relevant codes and standards. Supervise and support installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical and automation systems, including PLCs, DCS, SCADA, and industrial networks. Interface with vendors and evaluate automation hardware/software, MCCs, and switchgear packages. Provide technical direction to contractors, EPC partners, and junior engineers. Act as the client-facing technical authority for all E&A systems, resolving design and commissioning issues. Drive digitalization and smart plant initiatives to improve efficiency and reliability. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Automation, or Control Engineering (Master’s preferred). 15+ years of experience in electrical and automation engineering, with at least 8 years in EPC projects for metals/mining/heavy industry. Proficiency with ETAP, AutoCAD Electrical, Revit MEP, and automation programming tools (Siemens, Rockwell, ABB, Schneider, etc.). Strong expertise in PLCs, DCS, SCADA, field instrumentation, and industrial communication protocols (Profibus, Modbus, Ethernet/IP). Proven leadership, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills. Physical Demands
Primarily office-based with extended computer use. Occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 25 pounds. Periodic site visits may expose the employee to noise, dust, weather conditions, and construction hazards. Personal protective equipment may be required during site visits. Benefits
