Overview

The University of Southern California (USC) Caruso Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery of the Keck School of Medicine seeks to hire a Clinical Instructor of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (Fellow) in the specialty of Head and Neck Surgery. This is a 1-year fellowship designed to cover the breadth of Head & Neck surgery with emphasis on ablative, microvascular, open skull base, robotic, cutaneous malignancies, and endocrine surgery. Fellows will work with faculty and residents as part of a multidisciplinary team to learn comprehensive care of complex head and neck patients and will serve as primary surgeon for complex cases under faculty supervision while developing teaching skills for a transition to attending. Responsibilities

Participate in a 1-year fellowship covering the breadth of head and neck surgery, including ablative, microvascular, open skull base, robotic, cutaneous malignancies, and endocrine procedures. Collaborate with faculty, residents, and multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care for complex head and neck patients. Assist, lead, and supervise residents during procedures as a primary surgeon under faculty guidance. Develop teaching skills and prepare for a transition from trainee to attending surgeon. Engage in advanced surgical techniques and participate in tumor boards and multidisciplinary discussions as part of patient care and treatment planning. Clinical Training and Techniques

Microvascular and reconstructive training including approximately 150+ free flaps, plus regional and local reconstructions. Transoral Robotic Surgery (TORS) with the Da Vinci system for oropharynx and supraglottic tumors to support minimally invasive treatment options. Transoral laser techniques for early laryngeal cancers and open partial laryngectomies as part of larynx cancer management. Collaborate with endocrine surgeons to develop expertise in thyroid surgery, parathyroid disorders, and complex revision cases. Multidisciplinary Collaboration

Work closely with medical oncology, radiation oncology, speech pathology, and neuroradiology as part of a multidisciplinary team. Participate in clinics and patient care across subspecialties to understand comprehensive cancer care. Attend and contribute to tumor boards and rehabilitation discussions. Compensation and Employment Details

Annual base salary range for this position is $96,118.32. Offer considerations include scope and responsibilities, candidate experience, education/training, skills, equity, applicable laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, and market factors. Equal Opportunity
