Radiologic Technologist 1, Temporary Relief, Variable schedule. Location: Jackson North Medical Center, 160 NW 170th Street, North Miami Beach, Florida, 33169. Department: Radiology. Shift details: Temporary Relief/Variable schedule. Responsibilities
Produce radiographs of chest, abdomen, extremities, spine, and other areas by use of x-ray equipment in an emergency room, clinic or hospital area in a safe and responsible manner while maintaining a sensitivity to the patient\'s age-specific needs. Position patients and take required radiographs following fluoroscopic examinations; adjust equipment at appropriate angles and heights and position patients for x-ray examinations. Provide radiation protection in accordance with prescribed age-specific safety standards. Compute technical factors on an individual patient basis to produce radiographs of proper detail, density and contrast to ensure quality control. Transport patients to and from appropriate holding areas or other assigned areas; operate portable x-ray equipment as assigned for bedside examinations. Use immobilization devices as required while adhering to age-specific safety needs. Assist radiologists or other medical specialists during fluoroscopy; assist physicians in administering contrast materials. Maintain safety standards and assist supervisors in demonstrations to radiology students. Copy pertinent clinical information from the Medical Record to the radiology request form and utilize HIS computer system functions to record procedures. Perform selected procedures in other areas of the radiology department when requested and rotate within the department as required. Receive on-the-job training in specialized technical areas and attend department in-service programs to learn new equipment and techniques. Follow infection control policies (Universal Precautions) and maintain the appearance of assigned radiographic rooms and equipment. Perform basic patient care duties and initiate life-support measures if necessary; comply with safety rules, departmental and hospital protocols. Demonstrate understanding of growth and development across all age populations and assist with patient registration duties as needed (quick registering, welcoming patients, bringing patients to treatment area). Attend a minimum of 80% of scheduled staff meetings and demonstrate service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise). Perform other related duties as assigned. Generally requires 0 to 3 years of related experience. Education
Associate\'s degree in Radiology Technology is required. Any employee performing Point of Care and testing in operating rooms or interventional areas must have the required degree verified at hire; minimum education level to be verified is an Associate\'s degree. Skill
Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work; effective communication in oral and written form; ability to handle difficult situations with critical thinking and professional composure; ability to follow instructions; knowledge and use of job-appropriate technology and software; must meet and maintain required unit-specific and organizational skills/competencies and licensures as required by the nursing area. Valid Florida state license as a Radiologic Technologist required. ARRT certification deadlines and BLS requirements per policy: employees hired before 2/1/2017 must obtain ARRT by 12/31/2019; grace period up to 6 months upon hire for those trained at JHS; new hires with external training must have the required certification at hire. American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers with at least 6 months validity required. Unit Specific Credential
