Overview

The Fairbanks Civil Division is seeking a detail-oriented individual to fulfill the mission of the Alaska Court System as a Court Case Manager 2 (salary range 12). Responsibilities

Perform administrative, paralegal, and customer service duties. Process filings in civil, small claims, appeals, post-conviction relief, and habeas corpus cases. Review and process motions, proposed judgments, and stipulations for proper use of forms and compliance with applicable rules and statutes. Process requests for default and default judgments, and enter information into the CourtView motion tracking program. Communicate in writing, in person, or by telephone with attorneys and self-represented parties, providing information on court cases, forms, and legal procedures. Assist customers at the public service counter, receipting payments, reviewing new cases and pleadings for compliance, processing marriage license and marriage commissioner applications, and assisting with retrieving copies from archived records. Cross-train and provide back-up support to other positions, assist with training of Court Case Managers, prepare files for microfilming, and process civil and small claims records requests. Support other departments as needed. Apply in-depth knowledge of court rules and technical legal processes with independent judgment and high attention to detail under time constraints. Work Hours

Full-time employees are scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Work Environment

Graduation from high school or GED plus one of the following: (a) one year of advanced clerical work experience equivalent to a Court Case Manager 1 with the Alaska Court System or equivalent; or (b) a two-year paralegal curriculum from an accredited institution; or (c) a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college. Copies of transcripts may be required at interview. Documents

Documents to be attached to the application: post-secondary transcripts if using education to meet minimum qualifications. Documents to be submitted at the time of interview: copies of the most recent two performance evaluations (if available) and a list of three professional references with contact information.
