Exempt, Full Time Summary / Objective

East Side House (ESH) is a 501(c)(3) organization serving the South Bronx since 1963. ESH operates youth education and technology programs and provides services to families and a growing senior population. ESH manages an After School Programs that offers students learning time in a safe environment with activities including homework help, robotics, sports, karate, dance, and music, aligned with New York State standards for promotion and graduation. Under the supervision of the Department Director of Afterschool Programs, the Program Director will be responsible for the overall development, implementation, and supervision of the SONYC Afterschool programs, with the expectation to develop and lead high quality programming for middle school participants. Essential Functions

Program & Community Development Provide oversight and direction for part-time program staff of the SONYC after school program and summer camp Recruit, hire, orient, and develop program staff Supervise all program staff and delivery of services to meet goals and performance outcomes Responsible for participant recruitment and retention strategies using the DYCD Connect report Serve as primary liaison for school administration, parents, and community entities Prepare and evaluate mid-year performance reviews of program staff Mentor and coach program staff; conduct monthly staff development Facilitate monthly team meetings and ensure staff meetings are executed Set and enforce standards for quality youth development programming Understand and navigate community culture to ensure program quality Advocate for program needs through community coalition building and surveys Provide and maintain a safe program environment per DYCD, ESH, OCFS, and DOH Safety plans Pursue partnership opportunities; bring in new partners to leverage resources Create quarterly community events, special events, and workshop series Assess programs quarterly to ensure community needs are met Administrative Ensure attendance tracking and reporting; meet enrollment targets Respond to electronic and phone communications within two business days Ensure DOH School-Aged Child Care and DOH Summer Day Camp regulations are followed; perform quarterly self-checks Coordinate major events with other ESH Program Directors Prepare a monthly calendar of events, programs, meetings, and activities Create a budget plan to support program needs and ensure timely spending Collaborate on cross-borough and agency-wide events and strategic planning Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of After Schools Remote Engagement Experience facilitating live and pre-recorded activities Familiarity with web-based platforms (Zoom, Google Classrooms, etc.) Monitor participation and safety during live sessions remotely Conduct wellness checks with families Follow remote work plans and procedures Maintain remote/virtual attendance logs Education, Experience and Skills Minimum Bachelor's degree or equivalent of 5+ years in youth services; 2+ years supervisory experience required Master's degree preferred Familiarity with Bronx communities and resources Experience in designing, planning, and implementing structured programs 2+ years supervising more than ten staff 2+ years budget, contract, and grant management experience Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities Strong administrative, writing, and public speaking skills Team player with commitment to urban youth; strength-based approach Bi-lingual (Spanish preferred) Competencies Project Management Problem Solving / Analysis Communication Proficiency Customer Service Public / Community Relations Teamwork Orientation Required Clearances

Corporate casual. Professional office setting with standard office equipment. Expected Work Schedule

Full-time. Monday–Friday and some Saturdays. Flexibility in hours. School Year: 10:00am–6:00pm; Summer: 8:00am–6:00pm Travel
