Overview

The Associate Director of Marketing & Events is responsible for ensuring the clarity, consistency, and strength of the Abby’s House brand across all platforms and communications. This role provides strategic leadership for all marketing, communications, and public relations activities while supervising the Marketing & Communications Associate to ensure effective execution of campaigns, donor communications, and digital presence. In addition to leading the organization’s brand and communications efforts, this role manages major fundraising events and corporate sponsorships. As the primary point of contact for media and press inquiries, the Associate Director ensures Abby’s House is represented with professionalism, accuracy, and mission-alignment. Key Responsibilities

Brand & Marketing Oversight Serve as the organizational steward of the Abby’s House brand, ensuring all communications are consistent, clear, and aligned with mission and values. Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive marketing and communications strategies (print, digital, PR, media). Oversee design, production, and distribution of materials including newsletters, annual reports, impact stories, donor appeals, and promotional collateral. Ensure branding is consistent across the agency, including use of logos, style, and messaging on all platforms Act as primary contact for media inquiries; develop and maintain press relationships. Train and empower staff and volunteer ambassadors to represent Abby’s House effectively. Supervision & Collaboration Directly supervise the Marketing & Communications Associate, ensuring alignment, mentorship, and accountability in executing campaigns. Oversee and support content development for social media, website (WordPress), email marketing, and print communications. Collaborate with Development and Women’s Services teams to capture impact stories, photos, and data for fundraising and communications use. Provide leadership in cross-departmental communications to ensure unified messaging. Event & Corporate Sponsorship Leadership Lead planning, logistics, budgets, and execution for major fundraising events (Springtacular, 5K, donor engagement events). Oversee corporate sponsorship solicitation, stewardship, and recognition in collaboration with Senior Director. Ensure fulfillment of sponsorship benefits and visibility across communications channels. Partner with Volunteer & Thrift Store Manager to recruit and manage event volunteers. Communications & PR Execution Develop press releases, media advisories, and talking points for staff and board members. Oversee digital campaigns to support fundraising, advocacy, and awareness. Maintain and update website content, ensuring relevance and accessibility. Oversee creation of donor appeals, newsletters, and impact reports. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or related field (or equivalent experience). 5+ years of experience in nonprofit marketing, communications, or development. Demonstrated experience managing brand and organizational messaging. Strong supervisory skills with ability to coach and mentor staff. Proficiency with WordPress, Canva, and social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn). Experience with design software (Adobe Creative Suite preferred) and email marketing platforms. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences. Excellent organizational and project management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities. Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends in support of events.
