Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing/CMO
The Senior Vice President (SVP) of Sales and Marketing will lead the strategic direction, planning, and execution of all sales and marketing initiatives for a regional Health Maintenance Organization (HMO). This executive role is responsible for driving sustainable membership growth, brand development, market penetration and expansion, and retention across all product lines including commercial, Medicare, and ACA Marketplace markets. Key Responsibilities Develop and execute integrated sales and marketing strategies aligned with the health plan's mission, regulatory requirements, and growth objectives. Drive member growth and retention across all lines and blocks of business Lead data-driven market research and competitive intelligence initiatives to guide decision-making and ensure responsive marketing strategies. Collaborate with executive leadership to define growth targets and strategic partnerships. Sales Management Oversee the planning and execution of all sales activities, including B2B, broker/channel development, direct-to-consumer sales, and large group acquisition. Manage and optimize the performance of the sales team to achieve membership and revenue goals. Establish metrics, KPIs, and dashboards to monitor performance and identify areas for improvement. Marketing and Brand Development Lead marketing campaigns to build brand awareness, improve member acquisition, and support enrollment periods (e.g., Open Enrollment, AEP). Direct the development of multi-channel marketing strategies (digital, print, social media, community outreach, etc.). Ensure consistent messaging, brand standards, and compliance across all platforms and materials. Product Design and Positioning Lead cross-functional product development efforts to ensure offerings are competitive, aligned with community needs and responsive to market demand. Partner with actuarial, clinical, marketing, and regulatory teams to design benefits that are cost-effective, compliant, and responsive to member feedback. Define product positioning strategies that clearly differentiate the HMO in a crowded marketplace-especially among Medicare and ACA plan competitors. Oversee the development of product messaging and collaborate on marketing campaigns to ensure accurate and engaging representation of product value. Community Engagement and Partnerships Oversee community relations, outreach, engagement programs and partnerships that align with the health plan's vision, mission and values. Foster strong relationships with community-based organizations, local governments and providers to enhance brand trust, community involvement and visibility. Member Retention and Engagement Design and implement initiatives to improve member engagement, satisfaction, and retention. Work cross-functionally with clinical and member service teams to enhance the member experience. Team Leadership Build and mentor a high-performing sales and marketing team. Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation. Ensure training and professional development opportunities are aligned with team goals. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Health Administration, or related field required. MBA or relevant graduate degree strongly preferred. 10+ years of progressive leadership in sales and marketing roles, preferably in the managed care or health insurance industries.
