Overview
Burgess Construction Consultants, Inc. is looking for an experienced Structural Engineer to join our team. Ideal candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of Residential Design experience and at least 7 years of experience designing foundations and buildings. The person in this role will be responsible for producing calculations, plans, and details, interacting with clients and government agencies, performing field inspections, helping train and develop junior/entry level staff, and more. Excellent organizational skills, exceptional focus on details, an innate drive to do what is necessary to provide outstanding client service, and an entrepreneurial mindset are vital for this role. Competitive compensation will be based upon experience.
Responsibilities
Perform structural analysis and design for residential, multi-family, retail, and light commercial structures, as well as retaining wall foundations
Create structural design drawings, calculations, and details
Perform project control tasks, including project scheduling, budgeting, and cost control
Manage multi-discipline design and construction projects
Interact with other engineers, contractors, fabricators, and government agencies
Provide direct onsite field observations and resolve field conflicts in real time
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering required; Master’s degree a plus.
Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) with 7-10 years of practicing experience. Required
Minimum of 3 years of Residential Design Experience. Required
Ability to pursue licensure as P.E. in multiple states required.
Requirements
Knowledge of AISC steel manual, ACI code 318, ASCE 7, and IBC
Knowledge of local building codes and requirements
Experience creating structural drawings/details in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar drafting programs
Proficiency with RAM Structural Systems, Concept, RAM Elements, etc.
Proficiency with building structure design (steel, concrete, wood, precast, etc.)
Understanding of other disciplines such as mechanical, electrical, geotechnical, and surveying
Willingness to learn
Strong communication – both written and verbal
Must be willing to travel
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
Must be able to travel to various project sites
Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas
