Prepare and review conceptual design for the high voltage substation design projects Prepare and review project specifications for procurement of major substation equipment, including transformers, switchgear, breakers, bus work, and control buildings Prepare One-line diagrams aligned with system study requirements Prepare grounding and lighting protection studies for major substations Prepare General arrangement and layout drawings Exhibit strong Substation civil engineering knowledge Prepare and review major equipment bid specifications Prepare Detailed cost estimates and probability modeling Prepare Structure calculations Insulation, A/C interference, static wire, grounding studies Ensuring compliance with industry standards and specifications, good engineering practice and constructability Coordinate/supervise design activities of multi-disciplined project team members as needed Provide construction support including resolving site queries, attending site meetings and performing site inspections during the construction phase Maintain complete project documentation with respect to high voltage substation protection and control design and construction, including as-builts and project closeout information Maintain good working relationships and fulfill commitments to project team and internal/external groups that support projects Mentor and provide guidance to developing engineers within the department Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution 5+ years’ post-education experience, preferably in high voltage substation protection and control design Experience with AUTO-CAD Experience with AutoCAD Electrical is an asset Experience with CDEGS and PSCAD Experience with MathCAD, ASPEN or ETAP software is an asset Experience in the design of wiring schematics is a must Experience on PSCAD or EMTP software is an asset Knowledge of modern power system, power system protection and relay technologies Strong client focus Knowledge of High Voltage & Utility codes and standards Proficiency with MS Office, MathCAD, PDF authoring software – Bluebeam or similar Efficient communications and ability to work with team members not located in the same office through MS Teams, email, or telephone calls Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements This position is subject to and contingent upon client approval of candidates put forth for consideration by WSP Position is located at client offices Preferred Qualifications

Compensation: Expected Salary (all locations): $86,100 - $150,590. WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and geographic location.
