We are seeking an experienced and innovative
Optical Engineer
with a strong foundation in physics and a passion for imaging optics. This role focuses on the design, simulation, and analysis of optical systems—particularly microscopy imaging—using off-the-shelf components. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in optical and mechanical tolerance analysis and hands-on experience with photometric methods for absorption and fluorescence measurements. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop advanced optical imaging systems, including microscope configurations. Perform detailed optical and mechanical tolerance analysis (stack-up, sensitivity, and simulations). Integrate and test microscopy systems using off-the-shelf components. Conduct absorption and fluorescent measurements using photometric techniques. Use software tools such as Zemax, CAD, MATLAB, and Python for optical design and image processing. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, third-party vendors, and fabrication partners. Document design procedures, simulations, and technical findings. Qualifications: MS or PhD in Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in optical system design and simulation (exceptional PhD graduates will be considered). Proficiency in Zemax and CAD tools. Strong understanding of imaging optics principles, interference, and distortion control. Experience with optical troubleshooting and image processing (MATLAB, Python). Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Seniority level
