DME is currently seeking an experienced Construction Inspector with expertise in inspection of civil and mechanical systems at Water Distribution Systems & Treatment Facilities, Wastewater Collection Systems, Pump Stations, and treatment facilities to support our construction management and inspection services related to Water/Wastewater Infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities:
Provide daily site inspections to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, and codes, and maintain up-to-date project records and test reports. Develop daily construction plans for all activities and project progress using the client’s software application tool. Review construction quantities and monitor payments to contractors. Function as the Owner’s agent regarding the construction process. Ensure the Quality Assurance of the installed work. Review progression of work to monitor and reconcile against the construction schedule. Read/Understand contractor submittals, RFIs, change order requests, and as-built drawings. Communicate conditions and field conflicts/changes to the project supervisor and/or construction manager. Interface with the client and contractor, working under the direction of the project supervisor/construction manager. Keep detailed records of contractor’s performance and progress. Oversee/track the review of technical submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs. Ensure proper implementation of temporary traffic management (MOT) and lane closures. Evaluate contractor change orders and claims, providing recommendations to the project supervisor/construction manager. Demonstrate independent problem-solving and decision-making skills. Assist in compiling data for monthly reports. Develop construction punch lists. Collaborate with team members and personnel from local, state, and federal agencies. Work schedules may extend beyond typical hours based on project needs. Provide feedback and input to field personnel to ensure tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and accurately. Adhere to company policies and ethical standards regarding resources and conduct. Perform additional duties as required. Requirements:
Experience in water, wastewater, stormwater, and concrete inspection work. Experience in stormwater management and environmental projects. Experience in civil and mechanical construction supervision, including earthwork, utilities, infrastructure, paving, water pipe replacement, sewer systems, pumping stations, and wastewater treatment plants. Knowledge of ASTM, ACI, and other construction testing standards and inspection procedures. Ability to read and interpret project plans, drawings, and blueprints. Familiarity with construction codes, regulations, and record-keeping. Knowledge of road safety and traffic control management. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong communication and organizational skills. Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). Knowledge of Oracle Contract Management (CM14), Oracle Unifier, or e-Builder. Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to health and safety policies. Education and Experience:
High School Diploma. At least 3 years of experience in civil and mechanical field inspection related to water/wastewater projects. Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
Water Sampler Certification. Temporary Traffic Control Manager Certification. ACI Concrete Field-Testing Certification (desirable). Erosion & Sedimentation Control Certification – SHA Yellow Card (desirable).
