Overview
VDC Manager — Location: Dallas, Texas. Full Time. We are seeking a highly skilled Virtual Design Construction (VDC) Manager to oversee BIM administration and coordination on large-scale commercial construction projects. The ideal candidate will provide both routine and advanced modeling services, facilitate 3D coordination, and support project teams with BIM-related technical expertise. This role is critical in ensuring that BIM/VDC workflows, standards, and deliverables align with the company's strategic objectives and project execution plans.
Responsibilities
Manage and execute all VDC/BIM processes and coordination for assigned projects.
Create and maintain accurate 3D models, documentation, and digital deliverables to support design and construction teams.
Interpret and incorporate shop drawings, submittals, and product data into BIM workflows.
Lead 3D coordination meetings and facilitate clash detection and resolution using Navisworks and other tools.
Ensure adherence to owner requirements, BIM Execution Plans (BEP), scopes of work, and project-specific VDC protocols.
Assemble composite models from multiple disciplines including trade contractors and design consultants.
Document and track coordination issues, RFIs, and constraints throughout the BIM process.
Collaborate with VDC Directors and Self-Perform teams to align BIM deliverables with project objectives.
Maintain relationships with internal teams, owners, and subcontractors to ensure seamless VDC integration.
Provide technical support, training, and mentorship to project teams and junior BIM personnel.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
7+ years of experience in BIM/VDC in commercial construction.
Proficiency in Revit and Navisworks is mandatory.
Experience managing large-scale projects such as hospitals, hotels, data centers, or multi-family residential developments.
Strong understanding of construction documents, shop drawings, and submittals.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work cross-functionally in a team-oriented environment.
Strong organizational, coordination, and leadership capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with additional BIM software (e.g., AutoCAD, BIM 360, Dynamo, etc.).
Previous involvement with design-build or self-perform construction projects.
Familiarity with Lean Construction principles, Kaizen, and 5S.
Experience creating or managing BIM Execution Plans (BEPs).
Understanding of scheduling and project controls related to VDC workflows.
