Senior Project Engineer, Battery/Equipment Prototype
to join us at our global headquarters in
Newark, CA . This opportunity will involve leading the Beta and Design Prototype Phase for Advanced Manufacturing Powertrain Engineering. This role will allow you to leverage core design principles and apply scale/lessons learned to validation build phases. Responsibilities
Oversee
design, fabrication, assembly, and testing
of Battery Pack and Module Lab Validation equipment during Beta and Core Process development/launch with internal and external teams. Use
3D modeling
and simulations to validate equipment designs and product designs. Design and validate core HV battery components, such as busbars, plastic housings and isolators, harnesses, and connectors, from initial concept through production. Collaboratively work with Product Design, Beta Team, Advanced Manufacturing, and External vendors to drive product validation efforts that will be carried into production. Design prototypes, create 3D CAD models, and develop test plans to validate designs. Drive changes based on test results and real-world feedback. Develop and maintain risk assessments to mitigate timeline impacts for
product validation
efforts. Gain
holistic knowledge of the product , production processes, and manufacturing technologies to understand and mitigate risks and identify optimization opportunities. Drive key decisions
(technical, project timing, supplier decisions, change management) that impact system delivery. Work under
minimal guidance
to identify project criticality and execute necessary tasks. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, STEM or related field, or equivalent education and experience. A minimum of 5+ years of experience
in Automotive/Powertrain Design and Build. Experience with
Battery Beta Build Lines
including structural bonding, laser weld, general battery assembly process (HV/thermal), deflection analysis, etc. Self learner/Hands on : ability to analyze problems and drive solutions with little external support, from design through self-fabrication, implementation and validation. Hands-On Experience : prototyping and shop tools for developing and validating designs (sheet metal, welding, 3D printing, machining). Battery Design : experience in designing high-voltage batteries and structural systems. Expertise in Alpha/Beta Build phases . Manufacturing Knowledge : experience with injection molding, sheet metal stamping, die casting, structural bonding, welding, HV/thermal assembly, etc. Willingness to travel up to
50%
of the time (domestic & international). Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range : The compensation range for this position is location dependent. Lucid considers a wide variety of factors when determining pay, including experience, education, and certifications.
