Overview

Electrical Senior Project Engineer - Mission Critical Facilities role at Stantec. The MCF Senior Project Engineer, Electrical guides the electrical technical design of data center projects as subject matter expert, mentor, and resource to the technical team. Position delegates, leads, and directs work of Project Engineers and Designers. The Senior Project Engineer conceptualizes, executes, and ensures quality throughout the design process to meet clients’ needs and expectations. Supervisory and mentoring responsibilities for junior staff and resources to other project engineers. This position is open to any location with a Stantec office presence for the right candidate.

Your Key Responsibilities

Assists the business development team in new project pursuits by providing input on RFPs/RFQs and participates in project interviews and presentations.

Manages technical project process and scope of work within own discipline; reviews and tracks scope, schedule, and budgeted hours; finds and resolves inconsistencies with the project manager.

Delegates tasks to project engineers and designers within own discipline as appropriate.

Follows quality management process; conducts project reviews and approvals before QA/QC reviews by the technical authority.

Builds and maintains strong client relations; communicates project and design requirements, progress, challenges, and troubleshooting to clients and technical staff.

Leads technical discussions and mechanical workgroups with project stakeholders; identifies key requirements and adapts design to meet project objectives.

Coordinates with all disciplines to fully integrate work and client requests into design.

Acts as supervisor and resource to the technical design team; supports staff education, training, and development.

Participates in the data center engineering/professional community to stay current with new requirements and technologies; attends meetings, seminars, conferences, or writes articles for trade publications.

Identifies opportunities to improve and standardize project deliverables across Stantec MCF centers.

Contributes to development of design guides, technical memos, calculation templates, and related materials for data center design.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

Extensive experience in mission critical/data center design concepts.

Experience on large-scale projects with varied stakeholders.

Comprehensive knowledge of engineering practices, concepts, principles, codes, and standards in own discipline; basic knowledge of other disciplines.

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to conceptualize solutions for multifaceted systems.

Strong communicator who conveys scope, schedule, and budget to clients and teams.

Adept at writing reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals.

Proficient in software such as Autodesk, BIM 360, Revit, MS Excel; working knowledge of SKM and CYME/CYMCAP is preferred.

Knowledge of the construction process and interaction with design; able to analyze and train others; detail-oriented and collaborative.

Able to independently resolve complex problems within the engineering discipline.

Education and Experience

Accredited engineering degree or equivalent experience required.

Minimum 7 years related industry experience preferred.

Mission critical / data center experience required.

Registered professional engineer (PE) license or other professional certification as required by expertise.

Pay Range

Locations in MN, VT, and various CA, NY areas — Min Salary $102,100.00, Max Salary $153,200.00

Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD and various CA, NJ areas — Min Salary $112,300.00, Max Salary $168,500.00

Pay Transparency and Benefits Pay ranges are provided where required by law. Final compensation depends on education, qualifications, experience, and location. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), stock purchase program, life and disability insurance, paid holidays, vacation, and paid sick leave where applicable. Some benefits may vary by location and employee type.
