Overview
As a Mechanical Design Engineer II here at Honeywell, you will be part of the Turbomachinery and Heat Exchanger Analysis and Design group within the Mechanical Systems and Components (MS&C) directorate. This team is responsible for the design, development, and analysis of Environmental Control System (ECS) turbomachinery, heat exchangers, and electric traction drive motors. In this role, you will perform stress, vibration, and heat transfer analyses to support product development across multiple programs. You will apply your engineering expertise to ensure designs meet performance, safety, and reliability requirements while adhering to Honeywell and customer standards. You will also contribute to design reviews, testing support, and process improvement initiatives, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams and internal and external stakeholders. You will report directly to our Engineering Manager and you’ll work out of our Torrance, CA location on a Hybrid work schedule. In this role, you will impact the development of innovative mechanical systems and thermal solutions that power the next generation of aerospace technology.
Key Responsibilities Perform stress analysis using finite element and classical hand calculation methods, and support validation testing. Conduct heat transfer analyses using analytical and finite element methods in thermodynamics, single and multi-phase flows, and energy systems. Post-process and interpret test data to support product validation and design refinement. Collaborate with global engineering teams to ensure technical accuracy and project alignment. Participate in requirements validation, project compliance, and risk management activities. Contribute to process development, root cause analysis, and corrective actions to drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications US PERSON REQUIREMENT Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization.
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or closely related field with emphasis in heat transfer, thermal sciences, or stress analysis. 2+ years of experience in the aerospace industry with a background in structural or thermal analysis. Hands-on experience performing thermal and stress analyses on turbomachinery, gas turbine engines, motors, or similar systems. Proficiency in ANSYS finite element software and strong understanding of linear/static, nonlinear, fatigue, and vibration analyses.
