Opto-Alignment Technology, Inc. (OATI), a world leader in the development and sales of precision optical alignment and metrology systems, is seeking a talented, enthusiastic and creative senior mechanical engineer to join our growing business in Charlotte, NC. The successful candidate will report to the VP of Engineering. They will work with the R&D team to develop new metrology systems and the operations team to support and improve existing products. The person we are looking for has a strong background in mechanical design (specifically SolidWorks), system development, and new product development. Collaborate with the R&D team to develop new metrology systems. Work with the operations team to support and improve existing products. Contribute to the creation of new products in a hands-on, entrepreneurial environment. Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent in a related discipline, with a minimum of 10 years of experience. Experience designing electromechanical or optomechanical systems. Demonstrated capability using SolidWorks for system design engineering, including 3D assembly modeling, part design, and creation of 2D prints. Practical experience applying GD&T to part and assembly design. Experience using PDM to manage CAD data. Familiarity with finite-element analysis (FEA), with a focus on structural simulation of precision systems. Proven prototype development and hands-on lab skills. Familiarity with optics, electronics, automation, data analysis, and/or programming is highly beneficial. US citizenship or green card is required for compliance with ITAR regulations.
