City of New York IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION, CANDIDATE MUST BE SERVING PERMANENTLY IN THE TITLE OF ADMINISTRATIVE PROJECT MANAGER, OR BE REACHABLE ON THE OPEN-COMPETITIVE LIST, EXAM# 8042, OR BE ELIGIBLE UNDER THE 55A PROGRAM. PLEASE INDICATE THIS ON YOUR RESUME. Under the direction of the Director of Design & Planning, the Manager of Design assists with the coordination, oversight, and evaluation of design activities within the BQE, Design-Build and Emergency Contracts Unit and provides support to related construction activities. Specific duties include: Serving as the primary communication link between Design/Planning and In-Field Construction activities. Monitoring and evaluating the performance of private consultants and contractors. Assisting in the evaluation of complex design reports, calculations, design plans, construction concepts, and schedules. Assisting in the development of Technical Specifications for Design-Build projects. Documenting progress and technical conclusions through reports, memorandums, registers, and presentations. Ensuring all work complies with Agency, City, State, and Federal guidelines. Performing additional administrative and engineering functions as required. Preferred Skills: Analyzing and evaluating complex technical data related to bridge and highway projects. Communicating effectively with consultants, utilities, and agency representatives. Supervising engineers in planning and coordination of Design-Build projects. Writing clear reports and correspondence. Experience working in transportation Design-Build environment. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Developing innovative solutions for field conditions.
