Overview
About the Position: This position is located at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story, VA. This base was formed on October 1, 2009 by merging Little Creek and Fort Story into Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek–Fort Story. The Naval Amphibious Base Little Creek is the largest base of its kind in the world, supporting amphibious operations and serving over 15,000 personnel across 27 homeported ships and 78 activities. Responsibilities
Assess and provide intervention for individuals with a wide range of chronic medical conditions and behavioral health issues affecting medical conditions, including assessment and disposition of beneficiaries with acute and chronic risk.
Consult with primary care providers to select, approve, and document treatment priorities.
Educate clinic staff on the principles of primary care behavioral health via trainings and briefings.
Conduct outpatient group classes, stress management, relaxation training, assertive/social skills training, diabetes management, chronic pain, and brief related interventions.
Assess acute mental and behavioral medicine conditions in beneficiaries.
Provide individual and group treatment using evidence-based modalities, including problem-focused interventions, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and psychoeducational classes.
Develop and implement professional development activities; coordinate departmental training on PCBH related topics.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Who May Apply:

To qualify, you must meet education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience includes paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, transcripts will be required. Foreign education may require evaluation for equivalence to U.S. education.
Basic Requirement For Clinical Psychologist (Behavioral Health) Degree: Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to clinical psychology.
Requirements
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience including conducting bio-psychosocial evaluations, providing individual and group therapy, and providing consultation to primary care and specialty clinic providers in a medical setting. This is typical of work at the next lower grade (GS-12). For GS-13, you must meet the listed qualification requirement.
License:
A current, active, valid, unrestricted independent clinical psychologist licensure from a U.S. State, DC, territory, or jurisdiction is required.
1-year Postdoctoral Fellowship in Health Psychology is preferred but not required.
Education
Foreign education: If using foreign education to meet qualifications, you must have credentials evaluated as equivalent to U.S. education. For more information, see the U.S. Department of Education guidance on foreign qualifications.
Additional Information
Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
One-year trial/probationary period may be required.
Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
