Clinical Psychologist (Behavioral Health) – Camp Pendleton, CA
Overview This is an open continuous announcement. Applications will be collected and reviewed until all vacancies are filled. A relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Note: This position is with the Defense Health Agency at Camp Pendleton, CA. Responsibilities Serve as a Clinical Psychologist Behavioral Health Consultant (BHC) for the Clinic and Behavioral Health System of Care (BHSOC) Primary Care Behavioral Health (PCBH) program. Provide mental health diagnoses as needed in accordance with the latest DSM, and deliver individual and group treatment using evidence-based modalities (e.g., brief problem-focused interventions, cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychoeducational classes). Assess acute mental health and behavioral medicine conditions; maintain documentation in accordance with unit and hospital SOPs and applicable DoD, DHA PCBH, Federal and state regulations. Offer interventions for individuals with a wide range of chronic medical conditions and behavioral health issues affecting medical conditions; conduct biopsychosocial evaluations; provide outpatient group classes (stress management, relaxation, social skills, smoking cessation, and substance use interventions). Provide clinical consultation to physicians and other professionals; educate clinic staff on primary care behavioral health principles; participate in meetings to review treatment appropriateness and referral sources. Establish cooperative agreements among providers and clinics within the Medical Treatment Facility; monitor community resources; use objective outcome measures to evaluate progress; prepare reports and authorize consults. Provide evidenced-based individual treatment and psychoeducational classes; assist primary care providers with treatment of patients with high-risk factors (suicide risk, trauma history, co-occurring substance use disorders); monitor treatment goals and determine appropriate treatment modalities. Develop treatment processes, evaluate information/education processes, and implement changes to increase treatment effectiveness and clinical productivity; conduct program evaluations and provide staff training on PCBH topics. At least one year of specialized experience, which includes conducting psychological evaluations, developing behavioral health treatment plans, and providing psychological counseling services. This is typical of work at the next lower grade (GS-12).
