Overview
Commissioning Engineer – Central United States travel; Industrial Furnace / Automation Systems. A global leader in industrial furnace and automated process equipment is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to join its growing U.S. field engineering team. This role involves commissioning complex, high-temperature and automated systems at manufacturing and metals facilities across the country. The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on work, frequent travel, and problem-solving in fast-paced environments. What You’ll Do
Perform
commissioning, installation, and start-up
of automation and furnace systems at client sites. Conduct
functional testing , calibration, and verification of PLC-controlled systems. Troubleshoot across
electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic
disciplines to resolve field issues. Interface with customer teams and subcontractors to ensure smooth installation and communication. Complete commissioning documentation, punch lists, and test records in line with company standards. Provide feedback to engineering teams to drive system and process improvements. Maintain compliance with all site safety and quality standards during field work. What You Bring
Hands-on experience with
PLC systems
(Siemens TIA Portal or Allen Bradley Logix 5000). Strong working knowledge of
pneumatics, instrumentation , and basic control logic. Combustion system knowledge
a plus (training available). Ability to read and interpret
electrical and control schematics . Skilled at diagnosing software and hardware faults on industrial equipment. Excellent communication and teamwork skills — adaptable to customer sites and travel schedules. Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in
Electrical, Mechanical, or Control Systems Engineering . 3–10 years of experience in
commissioning, automation, or field service
within heavy industry. Experience with
HMI/SCADA
systems and field start-ups preferred. Physically able to perform site work and travel extensively across the U.S. Why You’ll Love This Role
