The ideal candidate will bring: At least a High School Diploma Minimum five (5) years of recent experience as a Chief Engineer or related supervisory role in large commercial high-rise facilities Experience with chillers, boilers, pumps, and heat exchangers HVAC systems and Building Automation Systems Life Safety Systems and Utility Services Electrical Power Distribution and Plumbing Other mechanical equipment fundamental to building operations Journeyman or Master HVAC license preferred Excellent communication skills in English, both spoken and written Strong organizational and supervisory abilities Commitment to workplace safety and regulatory compliance What You’ll Do: Key Responsibilities
As Chief Engineer, you will manage a dynamic set of responsibilities crucial to federal properties: Oversee technical operations and maintenance of assigned buildings, ensuring equipment and systems run optimally Supervise, train, and mentor technical staff, fostering teamwork and accountability Prepare work schedules, assign duties, and coordinate preventive maintenance Develop, implement, and carry out building safety and emergency response plans Enforce security protocols, including logging subcontractor access and maintaining records of entries/exits Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and security standards and government regulations Respond promptly to customer requests and complaints with professionalism Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts for services, supplies, and repairs Coordinate modifications to building utilities, services, piping, ductwork, fire safety, and security systems Develop and execute operations and energy plans for efficiency and cost savings Plan and oversee testing, shutdowns, and startups of critical building systems Document building inspections on relevant GSA forms with thorough reporting Identify and communicate dangerous conditions or emergencies to the Project Manager and COR Schedule building services activities to minimize operational disruption Serve as primary responder to emergencies during and after hours Control access to mechanical/technical areas to maintain security Regularly conduct preventive maintenance and keep meticulous records Lead onboarding and ongoing training of new technical staff Track electrical and mechanical service capabilities and coordinate future upgrades Ensure testing, commissioning, and training for repairs, alterations, and construction What We Offer
