Senior Pipeline / Pump System Engineer (Water / Wastewater)
to join our Design Center in Tempe, AZ that supports municipal and industrial projects in Arizona and across the Southwest US. This position interacts with all members of the project team, including the client and construction contractors. Our ideal candidate is seeking challenging work, is committed to quality and has project management experience preferred.
Responsibilities
Provide engineering services in support of planning, studies, analysis, and design of water conveyance / distribution systems, as well as wastewater collection systems, including pump/lift stations, wells, chemical feed systems, and storage reservoirs
Develop engineering studies, design reports, construction documents, and oversee construction activities related to water/wastewater infrastructure in municipal and industrial markets
Produce drawings, calculations, and other engineering documentation following good engineering practices, codes, and standards
Create detailed designs of water and wastewater piping systems
Set up and perform hydraulic modeling for water and sewer systems
Prepare pump and piping system calculations; perform pipe stress analysis
Develop / supervise preparation of technical pipe, pump, and equipment specifications
Check design computations and quantity estimates
Coordinate and interface with vendors; prepare technical evaluations of supplier proposals
Work with CAD designers to prepare plans/drawings for water and wastewater infrastructure using AutoCAD, Civil3D, Revit, etc. CAD proficiency is a plus
Develop scope, costs, budgets and schedules for studies, design and construction services; include pipeline and pump stations
Assist in client contact and communication pertaining to projects; give effective presentations to clients
Work with and mentor junior staff; coordinate with project management team
Ensure work is timely, accurate, and of high quality; organize and plan own work and resources
Occasional field work and travel to project sites (approximately 5% overnight travel)
Qualifications
BS degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering field; MS is a plus
PE or PE eligibility required
Minimum 7-10 years of relevant experience
Experience with planning, studies, analysis, and design of water conveyance / distribution systems and wastewater collection systems, including pump/lift stations, wells, chemical feed systems, and storage reservoirs
Project management experience preferred; strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to conduct client meetings and present reports
Willingness to travel to project sites for occasional field work (~5% overnight)
Must pass background check and have a satisfactory driving record per company policy
