The Manager of Process Engineering includes the initiation of manufacturing process-related ideas, concepts and/or procedures to ensure conformity to customer specifications and production capabilities. The Process Engineer will develop process technology in an effort to improve existing capabilities, with consideration towards cost, efficiency, schedules and availability of raw materials. This position also includes the above process engineering duties in the Company's Irradiation Machines. Suggest, coordinate, and implement capital improvements (projects) in assigned manufacturing areas in the Company, in line with Company business plans. Responsible to develop manufacturing technology and improve manufacturing processes as they apply to the production of wire and cable products. Accomplish engineering tasks that require technical data gathering and analysis, problem identification and resolutions, process evaluation, cost analysis and reduction, as well as capital project justification and implementation. Key responsibilities include: Initiating ideas, suggestions and recommendations within the area of assigned projects. Assisting in controlling manufacturing processes by recommending the most efficient use of equipment, materials and manpower. Diagnosing manufacturing problems as they relate to machinery, materials and processes; identifying and implementing appropriate corrective actions. Reducing scrap, primarily as it relates to the use of materials. Assisting in special projects dealing with cost reduction studies, equipment utilization and downtime reduction, auditing quality control procedures, instructing manufacturing supervision in new processes and procedures, training of operators in new manufacturing techniques, and general troubleshooting of manufacturing processes. Implementing and supporting all programs related to operational improvements on the shop floor, including product quality improvements, efficiency and productivity improvements, process improvements and process cost reductions, and control of material usage and scrap reduction. Directing and providing assistance for all Irradiation Machines activities and improvements/upgrades. Assisting and coordinating all outside maintenance service/repair contractors who perform work on all the machines in the Irradiation Department. Maintaining and incorporating revisions/updates on all machines' documentation and prints in the department. Managing the on-hand spare/replacement parts inventories, as well as the test equipment use for repairing and troubleshooting all machines. Assisting in training all production personnel on the proper operation of machines in the department. Developing and maintaining all training documentation (manuals, posted instructions, computer information screens, etc.) for all operators. Developing and maintaining all product processing information (documentation) for each machine. Performing the duties and responsibilities of the Irradiation Safety Officer for the entire department. Requirements include: Equivalent to ten years technical experience in a Manufacturing Engineering, Production or related activity in a wire and cable manufacturing environment. Ability to effectively communicate with all organization levels, both orally and written. Strong aptitude for combining technical and management disciplines. Leadership potential essential to success. Organized and disciplined approach to problem solving. Four-year Engineering or Manufacturing Technology degree, or two-year Associate degree in Manufacturing Technology, Engineering, or related technical field, coupled with relevant work experience.
