Overview

Marmon Industrial Energy & Infrastructure (MIEI) - East Granby, CT is one of six specialty wire, cable, and tubing solution manufacturing companies located throughout North America. We have over 100 years of innovative engineered solutions for critical, industrial, and commercial applications. We are the experts in our industry. The Automation Engineer will be responsible for developing and executing approved projects on the site's Technology Roadmap. These projects will drive the site towards integrating Industry 4.0 practices across all processes on the shop floor. This engineer will lead the project management of new projects as well as the troubleshooting efforts for existing processes from an automation perspective. These responsibilities include control systems, PLC programming, and data acquisition. The ideal candidate will have a passion for technology improvements, Industry 4.0, automation and/or robotics that support the business safety, quality, and productivity goals. Responsibilities
Performs process analysis and data analytics to improve manufacturing processes and methods for cost-reduction, quality improvement and efficiency. Develops and maintains data collection system for production equipment. Implements inventory/work tracking and management solutions. Prepares and presents multipleyear plans on technology strategy for process improvement, new product development and quality improvements. Executes projects on plan that become approved. Prepares and presents monthly reports to Senior Management on the status, results, and effectiveness of the approved and active projects. Supports corrective action teams to determine root causes of quality, material, and processing issues; implements long-term corrective actions to prevent re-occurrences. Coordinates and provides training on various software/network systems to engineering, maintenance and production team members. Be available for calls on off hours if problems arise. PLC and HMI programming support for production equipment. Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related Engineering field Experience with automation equipment and integration into existing processes Demonstrated technical capacity, use of critical thinking skills and production environment support Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to create concise and informative presentations Strong engineering design, project management, and analytical skills. Preferred Qualifications
Lean Six Sigma training/experience/certification Demonstrated ability to apply critical thought processes to engineer, design, develop, recommend, and implement strategies to meet plant and corporate objectives Demonstrated leadership skills and influence on those with whom there is not a reporting relationship Ability to communicate effectively to oversee, direct and motivate teams and other plant personnel as needed Ability to travel on occasion for training, to other plants, and/or to corporate offices Ability to assess ROI on automation projects using OEE, scrap, downtime, and other corporate metrics Experience managing and directing third-party integrators to ensure project deliverables meet site needs Proficiency in Allen Bradley PLC/HMI platforms, with experience in Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP, and Profinet networking protocols Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
