Bechtel is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for the NASA Mobile Launcher 2 project. The selected contractor will design, build, test, and commission ML2, a ground structure to support the Space Launch System (SLS) Rocket. This is a short-term assignment with an anticipated completion date of 7/31/2026. Job Summary

This position is for a Senior Mechanical Engineer in the mechanical group associated with the NASA Mobile Launcher 2 project. The candidate should have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, a can-do attitude, and a mindset focused on resolving Construction and Commissioning-related issues in a timely manner. The engineer will support installation and testing of mechanical equipment on Mobile Launcher 2 as a Resident Design Engineer. They will revise design documentation per procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements, and work with the client, partnering contractors, vendors, and other technical disciplines in a team environment. The role includes conducting field investigations to determine work scope, leading design, development, modification, and evaluation of mechanical components and processes, and making recommendations to resolve technical issues to meet project requirements. The role will transition into producing as-built documentation for handover to the Client. Major Responsibilities

Designs, develops, modifies, and evaluates mechanical components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs) Coordinates mechanical engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendors, contractors, construction and other functional groups When delegated, provides guidance to other mechanical engineering personnel for specific tasks or projects Provides technical assistance to other mechanical personnel and will interact with project functions, the customer, and third parties to resolve non-conformances Provides assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project mechanical requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution Mentors and assists more junior mechanical team members Reviews mechanical documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance Revises calculations to close out open assumptions to complete design Revises drawings and mechanical schematics (P&IDs) for as-built design Monitors schedule adherence and assures a high degree of quality in work product Education And Experience Requirements

Requires a bachelor's degree in Mechanical (or related) Engineering and a minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience. Required Knowledge And Skills

Relevant experience includes, but is not limited to, P&IDs, calculations, and specifications for Mechanical systems and equipment Knowledge of industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME B31.3), Bechtel Corporate guides and standards Experience in a Construction environment, either as a Field Engineer or supporting as a Resident Engineer resolving Non-Conformances and other Construction-related issues Ability to utilize office automation tools effectively Broad knowledge of the application of Mechanical engineering design principles Experience working in facility piping, pneumatic and/or cryogenic design Must have the legal right to work in the U.S. without sponsorship Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check Preferred Qualifications

Registered Professional Engineer in USA Experience with quality assurance programs such as ASME-NQA-1 Experience including Government work Experience using mechanical software tools for fluid flow analysis (e.g. AFT Arrow, AFT Fathom, PipeFlo)
