The Assistant Director Nursing, in conjunction with Director Nursing, is responsible 24 hours, 7 days a week for the operations and function of their assigned nursing unit/units. The Assistant Director is accountable for the management of clinical nursing practice and patient care delivery; the management of human, fiscal, and other resources; the development of personnel; compliance with regulatory and professional standards, strategic planning, and the fostering of interdisciplinary collaborative relationships within the areas of responsibility and the hospital as a whole. Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Responsible for supporting the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation within areas as assigned. Assists in managing the overall operations in accordance with hospital administered policies, standards of nursing practices, and regulatory requirements, providing the highest level of care for all patients. Promotes patient/family focused care as the highest priority and strives to meet customer expectations for quality and satisfaction as measured by established metrics. Helps to facilitate employee engagement plans using evidence-based strategies designed to meet goals and set metrics. Assists in Providing administrative and financial accountability for planning, directing, staffing, coordinating, and controlling functions, and activities, delegating authority as necessary. Manages and meets financial performance targets including revenue performance and controls spending of departmental budget. Understands regulatory compliance issues which affect the system and department, including OSHA, DCF, TJC, EEOC, CDC, ACHA, etc. Oversees all unit/area activities to ensure operations are safe, efficient, and effective for both patient/families and customers. Oversees various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, terminations and other related activities. Utilizes performance management expertise to facilitate the achievement of department goals. Actively supports and promotes a professional practice model that encourages staff participation in the development of clinical standards that is collaborative, collegial and utilizes current trends and data in professional practice. Education, Experience And Qualifications

Minimum of Bachelor Science in Nursing with 1 year of RN experience OR 7 years of RN experience required; Master’s Degree preferred. Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Licensed as Registered Nurse in the State of Florida. Analytical, motivational, and strategic planning skills required. Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows. NCH is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
