Fairview Health Services is hiring a Surgical Technologist for the Operating Room at the Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, MN. As a Surgical Technologist, you’ll assist in surgical procedures by preparing the operating room, arranging and passing instruments to surgeons, and ensuring a sterile environment under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. You’ll play a crucial role in supporting the surgical team and maintaining the safety and efficiency of the operating room. Schedule
This position will be working 0.9 FTE (72 hours every two weeks), three 12 hour shifts per week, 09:00 – 21:00. Weekday call is currently voluntary but may be assigned on a rotation basis if needed. This position will not be included in weekend rotation but could be subject to change. Holidays are expected; the person will be rotated through holidays each year with the group. About Our OR at Ridges
Our 150-bed community-based hospital currently has 11 OR rooms, averaging over 7,500 cases a year. Our OR specializes in Spine, Orthopedic, OB-GYN, General, ENT, Plastic, Urology, and Da Vinci. Call response time is 30 minutes; weekend call is required at times. Limited call schedule (1 out of 6 weekends). Responsibilities
Supply appropriate instruments, suture, and specialty items. Maintain aseptic technique during all sterile procedures. Ensure accurate identification and handling of specimens. Count all required sponges, sharps, and instruments. Ensure availability and accurate functioning of supplies and equipment. Modify clinical interventions based on population served. Foster a culture of improvement, efficiency, and innovative thinking. Anticipate the surgeon’s needs. Follow appropriate action in emergency situations. Required Qualifications
Complete one of the following by hire date: Military Surgical Assistant; OR LPN (licensed in MN) Surgical Assistant; OR Surgical Technologist training. Basic Life Support (BLS) through Health Care Providers (or ability to obtain by hire date). Preferred Qualifications
Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program. AST certification or certification eligible at time of hire. 1 to 3 years of surgical tech experience. Other Required Skills
Knowledge of physical, psychosocial, and cognitive developmental needs of the population served. Knowledge of age-appropriate outcomes and interventions. Desired Skills
Demonstrate the ability to work under stress in a variety of situations. Ability to work well within a team environment. Benefits
