The Christ Hospital Health Network Job Description Operates mammography and ultrasound equipment to produce breast images. Assists Radiologist with breast cyst aspirations and needle localizations and any other special procedures required. Responsibilities Technologist related duties and responsibilities: Performs high-quality mammography according to Breast Center standards of performance.
Utilizes radiation safety protection measures. Practices cleanliness to equipment and room.
Correctly types all patient information into ID flasher systems. Documents pertinent patient information such as scars, moles, location of lumps, etc.
Knowledge of quality control procedures. Tracks exams in the Radiology Information System.
Ultrasound: Performs four images/film minimum, includes two magnification views and at least one transverse view; checks all information on film (Patient name, number, location).
Indicates palpable findings on Patient History Form. Cooperates with radiologist in requests for additional studies.
Assists Radiologist during core needle biopsies if applicable. Follows cyst aspiration and needle localization protocols.
Clerical duties: Prepares paperwork before performing patient mammograms. Obtains patient signature on release forms and manages outside films.
Answers phones in courteous manner. Uses RIS according to Breast Center protocol. Credits/cancels in RIS.
Age-specific competency: Adults and Geriatrics — provides mobility assistance, maintains privacy, reduces anxiety, explains procedures, and ensures patient understanding and safety.
Notifies physician’s office and follows up on results as needed. Notifies patient and family as appropriate about progress of procedures.
Qualifications
Knowledge and Skills Please describe any specialized knowledge or skills required to perform the position duties. Education and on-the-job experience may qualify for this role. Education:
Graduate of accredited school of Radiology Technology, and/or has completed on-the-job experience/training which allows the technologist to obtain certification. Years of Experience:
1 year of experience in Mammography (as of FDA guideline). Required Skills and Knowledge:
Knowledge and skill in operating mammography and ultrasound equipment to produce quality examinations; sterile technique; continuing education in Mammography (CE hours as required). Licenses & Certifications:
ARRT Registered Technologist; Certified Mammographer; Ohio Licensure; CPR Certification (bi-annual). Employment Details Seniority level: Entry level
