The Public Policy and Coalition Affairs Manager will serve as the operational hub for Cornbread Hemp’s advocacy work — coordinating legislative tracking, coalition management, stakeholder engagement, and internal communication across teams. Reporting to the Chief Communications Officer (CCO), this role ensures alignment across Cornbread’s state, federal, and multi-state policy objectives by maintaining strong relationships with trade groups, lobbyists, and grassroots partners. The position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced advocacy environment that balances research, coordination, and diplomacy. WHO YOU ARE:

Legislative and Regulatory Monitoring
Track federal and state legislation across neighboring states (OH, IN, IL, MO) and key markets (NY, IL, FL), with special focus on Kentucky and Washington, DC. Flag priority bills, hearings, and rulemakings with actionable recommendations. Coordinate with the U.S. Hemp Roundtable (USHRT) to ensure strategic alignment and avoid duplication. Advocacy Logistics & Communication
Support planning and execution of quarterly D.C. fly-ins and statehouse visits. Organize coalition and lobbyist coordination calls, create agendas, and document outcomes. Draft talking points, one-pagers, and slide decks for the CCO, CEO, and sales team. Collaborate with the marketing team to activate Cornbread’s customer base in advocacy campaigns and the website’s policy page. Attend PR team meetings to integrate policy priorities into media outreach. Build fluency across Cornbread’s marketing, compliance, and operations teams to ensure policy alignment. Compliance Support
Maintain and regularly update the 50-state compliance map for internal use. Assist with data collection for public comment submissions to state and federal agencies. Provide logistical support for annual inspections from the USDA Organic certifier, Kentucky Department of Agriculture, and other third parties. Coalition Management & Stakeholder Engagement
Coordinate Cornbread Hemp’s growing policy coalition of hemp brands, retailers, trade associations, lobbyists, and allied organizations. Liaise with external partners such as the U.S. Hemp Roundtable, Pacific Legal Foundation, and state-level lobbyists in key markets. Maintain a stakeholder engagement tracker to monitor contacts, meetings, and follow-ups. Support coalition-led advocacy efforts, including sign-on letters, petitions, and earned media campaigns. Assist social media staff with policy-related content and engagement. SKILLS EXPERIENCE AND QUALITIES THAT WILL HELP YOU BE SUCCESSFUL: Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Communications, or related field (preferred). 2–4 years of experience in public affairs, government relations, or coalition management. Strong writing, research, and organizational skills. Working knowledge of state and federal legislative processes. Experience managing stakeholder databases and communication pipelines. Familiarity with the hemp, cannabis, or consumer safety sectors (preferred). Familiarity with Google Suite and Slack. Experience working in EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) environments (preferred). Self-starter comfortable in a hybrid startup–policy environment where initiative and flexibility are essential.
