Overview
Manage the daily operations of the Sterile Processing Department at Phoebe Putney Health System, including planning, organizing, staffing, and monitoring work quality. Provide leadership in the development and implementation of organization-wide instrument sterilization policies, procedures, and processes. Utilize available and developing technology to improve operations and reduce costs. This position reports to the Director, Surgical Services. The manager is responsible for ensuring instrumentation, supplies, and other resources are available in a timely manner to support surgical services and other areas dependent upon them. All activities are in support of the strategy, vision, and values of Phoebe. All activities must comply with Equal Employment Opportunity laws, HIPAA, ERISA, and other regulations as appropriate. Responsibilities
Manage the daily operations of the Sterile Processing Department (planning, organizing, staffing, monitoring work quality).
Provide leadership and direction in developing and implementing organization-wide instrument sterilization policies, procedures, and processes.
Utilize available and developing technology to improve operations and reduce costs.
Ensure instrumentation, supplies, and other resources are available in a timely manner to support surgical services and other dependent areas.
Align activities with the strategy, vision, and values of Phoebe Putney Health System.
Manage assignments as needed, in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Qualifications External
Education Requirements
High School Diploma or GED (Required)
4 years / Bachelor's Degree in Nursing OR Bachelor of Science in a relevant healthcare field and 5+ years of experience in a Perioperative setting (including Central Sterile, Operating Room, or Ambulatory Care Center); completion of a 2-year healthcare-related degree within 2 years of hire is preferred.
Experience Requirements
3+ years of management or supervisory experience within sterile processing (preferred in a hospital setting; Required).
If no degree, 8 years of recent directly related Perioperative experience (including Central Sterile Processing, Operating Room, or Ambulatory Care Center) (Required).
Certifications and Licenses
Certification as CRCST or above through IAHCSMM OR certification as CSPDT or above through CBSPD (Required).
