Cabot Public Schools
Assists a certified teacher in reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of students in a classroom environment; assists in the preparation of instructional materials and implementation of lesson plans; and provides routine support. Performs all duties under the direct supervision of a certified teacher.
The successful candidate will:
Plan and implement classroom activities and lessons
Work in centers with children
Extend children's learning through questioning
Assist in sanitizing furniture and learning materials
Assist in observing children's progress
Assist in student arrival and dismissal
Supervise children in shuttle bus transitions
Take daily student attendance as required
Attend fifteen (15) hours of early childhood professional development yearly
Attend mandatory early childhood courses as required
Essential Tasks And Responsibilities
Plan and implement classroom activities and lessons
Work in centers with children
Extend children's learning through questioning
Supervise children during transitions
Engage children in gross motor activities
Assist in sanitizing furniture and learning materials
Assist in observing children's progress
Manage snack activities
Perform regular building level duties
Assist in student arrival and dismissal
Supervise children in shuttle bus transitions
Take daily student attendance as required
Supervise rest time
Attend fifteen (15) hours of early childhood professional development yearly
Attend mandatory early childhood courses as required
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work
Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form
Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals
Ability to process paperwork accurately according to standardized procedures
Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others
Ability to organize and coordinate work
Ability to travel to school district buildings and professional meetings as needed
Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth
Ability to form positive relationships with co-workers, students, and parents
Qualifications Profile
Must have 60 college hours - OR- successful passing score on the ParaPro Praxis exam
Successful completion of all background checks
In Addition Must Hold One Of The Following
An associate degree in early childhood education or child development
A CDA credential OR be willing to work towards the degree
Experience working with young children is preferred. The contract is for 180 days, and the salary is based on the Classified Paraprofessional Salary Schedule.
