South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice . Job Responsibilities
Serve as the primary case manager for youth referred to DJJ through diversion, intake, probation, or parole supervision. Interview juveniles, family members, and service providers to assess functioning, strengths, and needs. Monitor juvenile compliance with court orders. Provide alternatives to incarceration through the use of graduated responses and STAP. Serve as on-call agent on rotation. Provide a comprehensive supervision plan for the assigned youth, including diversion, intake, probation, or parole. Develop a comprehensive needs-based case management plan. Advocate on behalf of youth and families to ensure appropriate, timely, and consistent services. Conduct assessments for services and living arrangements for youth re-entry to the community. Maintain case files with JJMS data entry and document uploads. Promote restorative justice practices to address repair of harm and compensation to victims and communities. Prepare reports, forms, and participate in meetings; engage in job-related training and professional development. Minimum and Additional Requirements
State Minimum Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in social science or its equivalent. Knowledge of federal/state laws and regulations pertaining to juvenile offenders and the juvenile justice system; knowledge of intake/probation practices and related procedures. Ability to gather facts and interview effectively; ability to develop, enhance, and work with community collaborative initiatives. Ability to organize and maintain a caseload; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to broker services for juveniles, families, and victims. Proficiency in Microsoft and other MS applications. Ability to use a wide range of graduated responses in service delivery. Must be able to travel throughout the state and to perform duties related to custody, control, transportation, or recapture of youth; some overnight travel for training. Must be able to drive and lift up to 25 lbs. Background check and medical/drug testing may be required; provide transcripts if selected; explanation for employment gaps may be requested. Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in social science or its equivalent; experience in strength-based case management, community-based programs, intake/probation/parole or related areas. Benefits
