Continuous Improvement HSE Coordinator
Job Summary: Under the direction of the Continuous Improvement HSE Manager, the Continuous Improvement HSE Coordinator is responsible for identifying and facilitating continuous improvement initiatives site-wide that result in measured improvements in processes, safety, quality, and elimination of waste and reduction of operational costs through utilization of lean principles. This position will drive a strong culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence throughout the site.
Responsibilities
Continuous Improvement: Identifies improvement and cost reduction opportunities, designs projects to capitalize on identified opportunities, leads cross-functional teams in the implementation of improvement projects, and builds systems to ensure improvements are sustained. Responsible for scheduling, training, and coaching cross-functional project teams.
Establishes metrics in all areas by which progress of lean activities can be measured.
Collaborates with site management to drive a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Conducts time studies for production processes.
Promotes best practice sharing and drives participative innovation amongst employees and other CIHSE peers. Leads, assists, and sustains 5S standards site-wide.
Provides training and coaching to all employees and teams on continuous improvement techniques and tools so that they are better equipped to drive improvement efforts.
Collaborates with site management on identification of internal White and Green Belt certification candidates. Mentors and coaches candidates throughout the entire certification process; ensures projects are planned correctly with adequate resources, budgets, and necessary metrics.
Safety: Implements policies and procedures deemed necessary to control hazards and ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
Facilitates HSE trainings as required to ensure safety compliance and a safe work environment.
Performs risk analysis to ensure controls are implemented to eliminate or reduce hazards in the workplace.
Performs accident investigations and root-cause analysis to prevent reoccurrence.
Monitors and tracks HSE metrics and data, and ensures reporting compliance with federal, state, local, and corporate regulatory programs.
Performs routine audits to evaluate current policies, procedures, and documentation to ensure compliance with applicable policies, laws, and regulations.
Actively supports safety and environmental management systems to achieve and sustain ISO 14001, as well as Safran Standards for safety maturity.
Provides oversight of handling and shipping of waste, including technical data support for environmental reporting.
Conducts drills, such as fire drills, to ensure equipment is properly functioning and staff are aware of what to do in the event of an emergency.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
One or more years of continuous improvement experience within a production facility.
Successful involvement in an organizational culture shift.
Ability to work collaboratively and proactively, balancing a variety of priorities and workload.
Solid project management skills to create buy-in and ensure deadlines are met.
Demonstrated ability to influence without authority.
Proven change management and conflict resolution skills to ensure effective implementation of projects.
Enthusiastic and motivational team player with strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
Ability to be flexible and agile to accomplish project objectives.
Passion for driving change.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Demonstrated knowledge and practice of continuous improvement and lean principles.
