Oak View Group is the global leader in venue development, management, and premium hospitality services for the live event industry. The Events Manager will manage every aspect of their assigned events from the advance planning stages through the end of the event; hire, train, schedule and supervise all event staff; oversee building security and interact with local public safety officials to ensure events run smoothly; coordinate communication between event staff/security and delegate assignments; be responsible for and ensure overall customer and lessee satisfaction and experience. This role also supports the Guest Experience team and works closely with visitors, stakeholders, industry partners, guests, in-house services, and other colleagues. The Events Manager reports directly to the venue Assistant General Manager and is responsible for the planning and execution of Palm Springs Plaza Theatre events including concerts, comedy shows, family shows, private events, and more.
This position will pay an annual salary range of
$70,000-$75,000 .

About The Venue Our goal is to prepare this one-of-a-kind community facility for its “Next Act” by replacing or restoring most systems, installing new seats, sound, and lighting, adapting the structure to meet current ADA requirements, and providing the theatre with modern facilities needed to provide Palm Springs and the Valley with a venue accessible and affordable for everyone. Exciting new developments include: SAVE, RESTORE, REOPEN. The restoration project is well underway and is expected to be completed in late 2025, with the Plaza Theatre reopening to the public thereafter. The Palm Springs Plaza Theatre will become a major economic driver for the City, bringing diverse high-quality programming to the community.
Responsibilities
Analyze challenges, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, and implement recommendations in support of organizational objectives
Communicate clearly and concisely in English, both orally and in writing
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with lessees/clients, co-workers, part-time staff, contractors, patrons/public and municipal officials
Work a flexible schedule, including long nights, early mornings, weekends and holidays as needed
Maintain a guest service focus through teamwork and commitment to Oak View Group’s principles
Assist in preparing buildings to meet the requirements of upcoming events/shows
Assist with pre-show event financial estimates and post-show settlements
Advise lessees on services available from independent contractors for events
Recruit, train, and supervise event and security staff; create work schedules and delegate assignments
Function as a liaison between users of the facility and facility staff
Recommend and evaluate required event staffing levels; coordinate load-in and load-out communication
Investigate and resolve event-related complaints to ensure customer satisfaction
Maintain equipment for event and security staff
Make hospitality arrangements as needed and coordinate with Food and Beverage providers
Serve as Manager on Duty as scheduled
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
3-5 years of increasingly responsible experience in event management in a theatre, convention center, stadium, arena, or public assembly facility
Bachelor’s degree in facility management, hospitality management, business, or related field, or equivalent career experience
Bi-lingual a plus
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office and general Internet use
Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one
Knowledge of operational characteristics of events, crowd management, and customer service practices
Knowledge of supervision, scheduling, and training employees; familiarity with facility use contracts
Knowledge of fire and public safety regulations; knowledge of A/V equipment and electronic systems in public assembly facilities
Experience with budget preparation and control; familiarity with entertainment/convention/public assembly terminology
AutoCAD experience is preferred but not required
Ability to work indoors and outdoors as required; ability to stand or walk for extended periods; ability to lift up to 40 lbs
