BASIC OBJECTIVES
This is a professional position responsible for the instruction of dance to middle school and senior high school students through the teaching of techniques and skills in dance (e.g., ballet, modern, jazz, ethnic, tap or theater), choreography/performance, and the history of dance.
Job Tasks/Responsibilities
Instructs students using various teaching methods including lectures and demonstrations. Prepares course objectives, lesson plans and outlines for courses of study following curriculum guidelines. Assigns lessons, assesses student progress including homework assignments, and presentations. Maintains attendance and grade records as required by school. Maintains discipline in the classroom. Meets with parents to discuss pupils' academic, social, and behavioral progress. Participates in faculty and professional meetings and inservice classes. Develops and uses resource materials such as slides, handouts, transparencies, films, and publications. Coordinates, organizes, and supervises student performances, demonstrations, and appropriate field trips. Coordinates community dance resources needed for the school program (e.g. performances, artists-in-residence, master classes). Performs related work as required or assigned by the supervising administrator or his/her designee.
Physical Requirements
This is heavy work which requires the following physical activities: climbing, balancing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, twisting, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, feeling, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity. The worker is exposed to noise and the work is performed primarily indoors.

Starting Salary: $53,053.00*
(includes 6% Referendum Retirement Accruing Supplement of $3,003)
New hires may be eligible to receive credit for verified years of experience, which can enhance their starting salary.
