HIRING RATE: $74,536.00 (Annual) The Center for Health Equity & Community Wellness (CHECW) seeks to eliminate inequities resulting in premature mortality. CHECW works to increase visibility of the harm perpetuated by unjust policy while pushing towards redress for NYC communities. CHECW addresses inequity across community and healthcare systems in partnership with community, faith-based, and environmental and commercial determinants, and addresses upstream and downstream factors to improve health and well-being of New Yorkers. CHECW is comprised of the Bureau of Bronx Neighborhood Health, the Bureau of Brooklyn Neighborhood Health, the Bureau of Harlem Neighborhood Health, the Bureau of Chronic Disease Prevention, the Bureau of Health Equity Capacity Building, the Bureau of Equitable Health Systems, and the Bureau of Finance, Administration and Services. The division\'s Deputy Commissioner also serves as the Agency\'s Chief Medical Officer. The Bureau of Equitable Health Systems (BEHS) is the health care systems bureau of DOHMH. Our mission is to apply policy, evidence, and practical expertise to improve equity in health care delivery at the individual, organizational, and systems levels. The Health Care Access & Policy (HCAP) Office within BEHS drives policy, programming, and research that maximizes health insurance coverage and increases access to affordable, high quality, and coordinated primary care with a focus on health equity. HCAP analyzes health systems in NYC and identifies barriers to obtaining insurance coverage and accessing primary care services, including FQHCs, Medicaid, CHIP, federal shortage designations, and health care systems utilization and efficiency. HCAP also analyzes the implementation of ACA insurance expansion from the perspective of low-income and marginalized populations. Health Care Access & Policy, within BEHS, is seeking a motivated and dynamic Program Coordinator to provide high-level support to the Executive Director. With latitude for independent judgment and decision-making, the Program Coordinator will monitor program capacity to meet project goals and objectives; prepare bureau leadership for internal and external meetings; and prepare reports as appropriate. Duties Will Include But Not Limited To Engage in research and quantitative data analysis on public health initiatives including reviewing relevant literature. Conduct background research and prepare proposals for new programs. Disseminate information and serve as liaison between the HCAP Office and other Bureau programs to assist with troubleshooting. Provide guidance on programmatic matters; coordinate with staff to ensure timely completion of follow-up items; and compile information for regular and ad hoc reports. Identify opportunities for collaboration across projects within the Office to ensure work is coordinated, expertise is maximized, and activities are aligned with Bureau goals; monitor and track tasks, deliverables and deadlines for the Executive Director; prepare routine reports and materials. Evaluate, analyze and report on key initiatives with attention to successes, challenges and use of resources, including tracking the Bureau\'s goals and key metrics. Plan for upcoming meetings by preparing the agenda and necessary supporting materials; attend meetings with Bureau leadership to provide a record of discussions, decisions, next steps and follow-up items; distribute follow-up items and delegate tasks to Office staff or others as needed. Develop and maintain relationships with key internal and external contacts; act as a key contact for external stakeholders and represent program activities to others. Assist with special projects including grant preparation. Maintain up-to-date knowledge base on relevant policy issues including public health insurance programs, health reform and transformation initiatives impacting primary care and health insurance coverage. Initiate special projects as requested by the Executive Director.
