Position Highlights
The Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health (MEZCOPH) seeks an Academic Advising Professional to develop and implement strategies to support the college advising objectives. This position will serve as point of contact for undergraduate students navigating the matriculation process. The position will assist students in their successful academic experience. Hybrid work week schedule is available for this position. . Duties & Responsibilities
Advising students on academic, career and personal issues: identifying the educational and career option appropriate for each student and assisting with the analysis of each option, including possible outcomes and their implications, if needed, referring student to other campus resources. Building and presenting academic information alongside senior academic advisors. Developing solutions to a variety of problems and working on moderately complex projects. Referring to policies and practices for guidance and determining best course of action to achieve results. Encouraging undergraduate students to participate in MEZCOPH student organizations. Collaborating with the advising team and health sciences colleagues to update and contribute to the development and maintenance of web, print and other materials relating to undergraduate recruitment, advising and other academic services. Assisting with the undergraduate student admissions process and representing the college at campus-wide recruitment and admissions-related events. Assisting with undergraduate student transfer credit evaluation and adjustments to the student record. Collecting data on prospective, current and graduating undergraduate students; assisting in the preparation of reports and surveys for programs reviews, assessment reports, etc. This includes utilizing data to design and implement outreach campaigns to support student success and retention initiatives for our college and designing and implementing in-person advising initiatives and projects (class presentations, etc.) to support student success. Participating in team member activities of the Office of Student Affairs. Assisting with course registration and enrollment management. Completing degree checks for undergraduate students. Participating in MEZCOPH recruitment activities. Participating in the development of materials and preparation for undergraduate new students, transfer and international student orientation (both on campus and out of state) and presenting academic information to new students during these orientations. Staying current with advising policies and procedures; participating in university advising meetings as needed. Assisting with advising students on academic probation. Documenting all pertinent student information, and maintaining electronic and hard copy undergraduate student files and records. Collecting data on prospective current and graduating undergraduate students. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent communication skills. Ability to work effectively with students from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree. Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from CEPH-accredited public health program or related field. Public health background. FLSA

These reports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims. As a campus with residential housing facilities, the Main Campus ASR also includes a combined Annual Fire Safety report with information on fire statistics and fire safety systems, policies, and procedures.
