Position Highlights: The College of Information Science seeks an enthusiastic and experienced advisor to join our team and work with undergraduate students. The advisor will develop and implement strategies, processes, and learning experiences that support achievement of academic and career outcomes, including the overall student experience. The advisor serves as the frontline contact for undergraduate students for developmental and appreciative academic advising to drive engagement and empower students to achieve their academic and career goals. This role supports undergraduate student retention and maintains extensive knowledge of advising practices.

Duties & Responsibilities Student Advisement
Independently advises students and continually reflects on optimizing advising processes in the College of Information Science.
Assesses individual students' academic and career development stages and helps students set goals and make decisions about degree programs and career options.
Evaluates transfer credit and transfer agreements for the College of Information Science.
Identifies educational and career options for each student and assists with evaluating options and potential outcomes.
Monitors academic progress, determines satisfactory progress toward degree, and assists with degree completion.
Assesses student needs (e.g., study skills, tutoring) and designs plans to address them.
Advises students with academic difficulty on development of an action plan and refers to appropriate campus resources as needed.
Manages student records in compliance with legal regulations and policies.
Develops solutions to complex problems and leads projects requiring strategic thinking and independent action.
Leads newer advisors, trains peer advisors, and manages interns.
Thinks strategically to improve student experiences in the College of Information Science.
Service to the College
Participates in committees focused on curriculum, scholarships, or student support.
Assists with college ceremonies, convocations, student awards, and related activities.
Service to the University
Assists with Transfer and Freshmen Orientation, including evaluating incoming credits, representing majors to families and students, and referring to resources.
Represents the College of Information Science when interfacing with students, parents, alumni, and other stakeholders.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to communicate effectively with different groups/individuals.
Extensive knowledge of advising norms, processes, and concepts.
Demonstrated ability to work independently.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience advising Main Campus students at the University of Arizona.
Experience advising online undergraduate students.
Experience with academic advising in disciplines such as Information Science, Data Science, Game Development, or similar areas.
Proficiency with University of Arizona systems.
