Overview

Content Strategist role for the City of New York Campaign Finance Board (CFB). The CFB manages NYC’s small donor democracy program and educates voters via NYC Votes. The department leads marketing and digital communications for public-facing materials engaging five million New Yorkers in thirteen languages. Responsibilities

Implement the CFB’s content strategy across web, social, and print, including agency websites, social channels, email and SMS campaigns, and Voter Guide output. Create and maintain content calendars aligned with key election dates and ongoing goals for the Public Affairs division. Provide strategic guidance for organic and paid campaigns, including targeting, budgets, messaging, and success metrics. Develop content approaches to engage specific voter groups, including youth and immigrant voters. Grow public-facing awareness of the CFB mission, including the matching funds program and related initiatives. Leverage partnerships to reinforce NYC Votes information and credibility with internal and external audiences. Write and edit original content for voters, volunteers, partner organizations, and the general public. Supervise the Content Strategy team (Social Media Manager, Digital Media Manager, and other members as needed) within the Marketing and Digital Communications unit. Set long-term standards of management and leadership to enable ongoing professional development for staff. Qualifications

Knowledge of digital content strategy across web, social, print, SMS, and email; ability to plan content around events like elections; familiarity with performance marketing principles and KPIs; accessibility standards (WCAG) and plain language best practices. Ability to translate agency goals into actionable content strategies; manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines; synthesize feedback into a unified content direction; lead a team with transparency and accountability. Editorial and strategic writing skills; experience with calendar management, campaign mapping, and cross-team coordination; ability to analyze performance data and make data-informed decisions. Experience supervising or mentoring creative staff; strong stakeholder communication and collaboration; familiarity with CMS, analytics dashboards, and social scheduling tools; culturally competent and able to engage diverse communities. Minimum Qualifications

Standard civil service requirements apply. The description references a bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent combination of education and experience; specific details depend on civil service title code. Preferred/Additional Information

Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, public policy, or related field; 4–6 years of digital content strategy or cross-channel campaigns; experience with multilingual audiences and accessibility practices; strong project management and editorial workflows.
