Overview
The Associate Director, Trade & Specialty Operations is responsible for the design and implementation of BI’s Specialty pharmacy (SPP) and specialty distributor (SD) operations including contract management, account performance monitoring and reporting. The incumbent will implement trade specialty operational activities to maximize BIPI branded product performance within the SPP and SD channels. This position will drive analysis, internal preparation, and material creation for the SPP quarterly business review (QBR) process. The AD will serve as a connection point for SP National Account Directors (NADs) back into internal operations, including brands, Reimbursement & Access Associate Directors (RAADs), Data Governance, Finance, Customer Service. In addition, this position is responsible for execution of launch plans for assigned brands or therapeutic area. This role is based on-site at our Ridgefield, CT location with hybrid flexibility of 2-3 days per week on-site.
Duties & Responsibilities
Monitors and analyzes metrics that indicate SPP performance, including fill rate, time to patient, medication possession ratio, time on therapy, denial trends, cancellation trends; supports NAD’s efforts to align SPP performance with brand needs in these areas Monitors data quality metrics, escalates issues to NADs and other cross-functional partners and supports NADs in gaining resolution Drives internal components of SPP QBR process, including analysis and internal preparation / collaboration activities Monitors SPP contract compliance and performance, including creation of SPP contract scorecards Utilizes insights to work with the NADs to drive improved SP/SD brand programs and account performance Supports Trade involvement in specialty brand strategy planning and specialty pharmacy channel strategy development and launch execution Works collaboratively with brand marketing, Trade National Account Team, pharmacy marketing, manufacturing, and distribution and revenue operations to optimize product distribution, service logistics and brand / marketing program execution in the Specialty channel When needed, ensures launch materials and shipment specification information are available to all stakeholders Leads BI organizational strategy and management of specialty pharmacy and distributor data, 3rd party data providers and aggregators (e.g., IQVIA and Integrichain) Works cross-functionally to monitor specialty industry and market trends, legal developments, and SPP regulations to ensure BIPI is meeting obligations and is continuously improving relevant processes and capabilities Works collaboratively with Trade Strategy and Contracting to ensure budgets and purchase orders (POs) for enhanced SPP services are developed and implemented for all Specialty Pharmacy customers across all specialty brands Takes responsibility for managing all monthly SP/SD reconciliation of budget and services for all specialty brands and works with brand to increase/reduce POs as necessary Fosters open communication among team members, with business partners and customers Develops and delivers clear, well-organized oral and written communications that are readily understood by others Assists in the development of the Trade and Specialty departmental plan and represents Trade & Specialty Distribution on Monthly S&OP for specialty brands Acts as consistent source of external business information gleaned from a combination of customer interactions, industry networking and mining media resources Positively impacts the overall quality level of service experienced by supporting the National Account with customer analysis and insights Performs all Company business in accordance with all regulations (e.g., EEO, FDA, DEA, OSHA, PDMA, EPA, PhRMA, etc.) and company policies and procedures
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred Minimum of seven (7) years of Operations, Customer Service, Marketing or related business experience, including one to two (1-2) years supply chain management within US pharmaceutical industry required Three plus (3+) years of experience in Specialty operations / specialty pharmacy/ Access & Reimbursement within US pharmaceutical industry required Experience with buy and bill products a plus Strong Project management and organizational skills required Demonstrated ability to learn existing sales processes and applications in a short time and be able to provide baseline support for business clients Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and balance multiple tasks simultaneously Strong ability to influence without authority and interact with Sr. Leadership Demonstrated ability to manage budget and resources Demonstrated ability to achieve results in a highly matrixed organization Proficiency in MS Office, Outlook, and database applications, including knowledge of various desktop applications Experience in Cognos/Report writing toolset and basic knowledge of SAP a plus History of successful performance Ability to travel (may include extensive overnight domestic)
