You will be able to access and complete the application through “My Draft Applications” located on your Candidate Home page.**## Job Posting Title:Academic Counselor 1 / 2## Position Type:Professional / Unclassified## Department:LSUAM COB - GP - OBSS - Academic Services (Melanie Buchmann (00009728))## Work Location:2000 Business Education Rotunda## Pay Grade:Professional## Job Description:A counselor 1 position will be responsible for academic advising and assisting with college advising and recruiting initiatives.A counselor 2 position will be responsible for academic advising, assisting with college advising, recruiting, and retention initiatives as well as managing the college's enrollment reports.**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:****COUNSELOR 1**70% -General counseling: provide academic, career, & personal guidance to E. J. Ourso College of Business students, pre-Business students in UCFY and UCAC, international students, prospective new students, transfer students, & re-entry students.

Advise students on various academic procedures & regulations including but not limited to scholastic regulations, curriculum requirements, withdrawal regulations, resignations, part-time enrollment, etc.

Manage a portion of the alphabet for student email inquiries, paperwork requests, & graduation.20% - Recruiting: Assist with the college’s recruiting efforts to include participation in on campus events, prospective student meetings, and BEC tours.

This may include a limited number of evening and weekend events.10% - Other duties assigned by the Assistant Dean and Director of Academic Services, which include but are not limited to participating in recruiting events, graduation, orientation and Spring Invitational, and other assorted programming missions of the college.**COUNSELOR 2**50% -General counseling: provide academic, career, & personal guidance to E. J. Ourso College of Business students, pre-Business students in UCFY and UCAC, international students, prospective new students, transfer students, & re-entry students.

Assist with OBSS and university retention initiatives with the goal of developing a strategy and implementing a program to identify students who are at risk. Work with college and university partners on success programs for at-risk students. Collaborate with faculty on early intervention.10% - Other duties assigned by the Assistant Dean and Director of Academic Services, which include but are not limited to participating in recruiting events, graduation, orientation and Spring Invitational, and other assorted programming missions of the college.**ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:****FERPA**: As with all LSU employees, due to this position title and/or responsibilities, this position has an obligation to assist students in the acquisition of necessary services. Should a student appear in need of or seek assistance with issues of an emotional, behavioral, or mental health related matter they should be referred to the proper service within the Student Health Center. In situations where the student creates an impression that they are a danger to themselves or others, the advisor should immediately contact the Care Team, the Dean of Students or the appropriate law enforcement agency. The employee outside of those rights contained within FERPA should create no impression of client or patient confidentiality.**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**:EDUCATION LEVEL: Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a related field of behavioral scienceDEGREE SUBSTITUTE: LSU values skills, experience, and expertise.
