Overview
The Career Development Center is seeking a Digital Communications Specialist. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position. The Digital Communications Specialist is part of an internal creative services team that supports the marketing and communication needs of Integrated Support & Development (IS&D) at Oregon State University, with a particular focus on the services and programs of the Career Development Center (CDC) and New Student Onboarding (NSO). Reporting to the IS&D Director of Marketing and Communications, the specialist plays a pivotal role in supporting, coordinating, and managing communications, and leading the creation of strategic digital content for the CDC & NSO. Integrated Support & Development is a collection of departments within Oregon State University’s Division of Student Affairs that works to ensure support for students’ personal, professional, and academic growth is integrated throughout their university experience. These departments include the Career Development Center (CDC), Office of Academic Success (OAS), Academics for Student Athletes (ASA), New Student Onboarding (NSO) and Cross Campus Strategic Initiatives (CCSI). This position is a digital storyteller, responsible for creating and executing a comprehensive video content strategy for the CDC & NSO. This includes providing leadership to student staff members who create social and video content as well as directly creating high-impact creative and instructional video content. As a member of the marketing & communications team, the specialist will work closely with the director to manage projects and campaigns that support the communications objectives of IS&D and foster meaningful engagement with students, faculty, employers, alumni, and affinity groups to support student success and build wide-reaching university relationships. Major initiatives include amplifying key programs and events, such as new student onboarding and career fairs; increasing awareness of resources for students and faculty; and expanding outreach to create inclusive, accessible opportunities. This position will play a lead role in creating dynamic digital content that will serve all learners, including Oregon State’s growing Ecampus population. Why OSU?

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, Videography, Digital Communication Arts, or related field. Progressive professional experience beyond entry level leading or supporting the development and implementation of digital communication strategies and tactics. Demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity, such as the ability to build relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders. Demonstrated strong decision-making skills, including setting priorities against established criteria and managing multiple projects/activities/deadlines Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with varied audiences such as faculty, students, parents/families, and industry partners. Excellent communication skills; demonstrated ability to write, edit and create content for print and web publications Demonstrated creativity and immersion in social media; an interest in trends and innovations marketing in platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and Facebook. Demonstrated videography experience and familiarity with video editing software Experience with creating content that adheres to best practices for accessibility and usability What We Would Like You To Have
Experience using digital marketing tools and systems, such as web content management systems, project management software and digital e-newsletter platforms Experience with photography and photo editing Demonstrated experience working within a brand system Written and oral Spanish-language proficiency Demonstrated leadership as a member of a creative team. Understanding of and experience with Adobe Creative Suite software Proficient user of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Outlook, Powerpoint, Sharepoint and Excel Working Conditions / Work Schedule
