Data Architect / Principal Data Engineer Location:

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Architect / Principal Data Engineer to join our Financial Crimes, Disputes, and Risk IT organization with a focus on Fraud prevention and detection. This role is pivotal in designing and implementing enterprise-scale data architectures, building resilient ETL/ELT pipelines, and ensuring the availability of trusted, high-quality data to power analytics, regulatory compliance, and real-time risk monitoring. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise in databases, Snowflake, DBT, and ETL (DataStage) with proven experience architecting scalable, secure, and performant data ecosystems in a regulated financial environment. Key Responsibilities
Design, model, and implement effective data architectures supporting fraud detection, disputes, and risk management. Define and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models across multiple database platforms (SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, Snowflake). Ensure alignment of data solutions with enterprise data strategy, governance, and compliance requirements. Build and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines using DataStage and DBT, ensuring efficient integration of structured and semi-structured data. Support large-scale migration initiatives from legacy databases to modern platforms like Snowflake. Implement automation for job orchestration, monitoring, and performance tuning. Partner with business stakeholders, fraud analysts, and data scientists to deliver data features and products that enable advanced fraud detection models. Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in data modeling, quality, and observability. Prepare technical documentation and present architecture/design reports to management. Proactively monitor data pipelines with tools such as SiteScope, Dynatrace, or equivalent APM solutions. Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, ensuring high availability and SLA compliance. Recommend improvements for scalability, data quality, and system performance. Required Skills
Strong expertise with SQL and relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, etc.). Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT tools (DataStage, DBT) and modern data warehouses (Snowflake). Experience in data modeling (conceptual, logical, physical) and data architecture design. Strong analytical skills and ability to evaluate business and regulatory requirements. Familiarity with job monitoring and observability tools (e.g., SiteScope, Dynatrace). Nice to Have
Background in financial services, fraud prevention, or risk IT. Experience with streaming technologies such as Kafka. Scripting experience in Python or SAS for data automation and validation. Exposure to cloud-based data platforms and data governance practices. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience). 8+ years in data engineering, architecture, or related fields. Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical solutions into business value. What You'll Get
