The Department of French and Italian at The University of Texas at Austin invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Italian Studies to begin Fall of academic year 2026-27. We seek a scholar specializing in Medieval, Renaissance, and/or Early Modern Studies. We especially seek candidates with a strong background and record of research in History, Visual Culture, Environmental Humanities, Medical Humanities, Mediterranean Studies, and/or Cultural Studies, as well as candidates able to collaborate across university departments and programs.Duties include undergraduate and graduate teaching, research, and service to the department, college, and university. Qualifications Applicants must have completed all the requirements for the PhD by time of appointment, or they must expect to obtain the PhD within a year of joining the faculty as Instructor.Native or near-native fluency in Italian is required. Preferred qualifications include a demonstrated record of excellence in research, publication, and teaching. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Position funding is subject to budget availability.
