This position maintains the costume shop to be a productive space for education and production. It works with faculty to supervise student workers, cost out costumes for theatre and dance productions, manage production timelines and schedules, and execute purchasing. Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Maintain the costume shop area and equipment; inventory and purchase supplies; inform faculty of materials needed; maintain costume stock and historical collections. Supervise and oversee student workers, including graduate assistants and practicum students; mentor in costume technology. Collaborate with faculty to establish budgets, assign projects, develop construction and professional practices, and prepare designer packages. Support productions through scheduling fittings, overseeing costume builds and alterations, managing laundry and repairs, and preparing for performances and strikes. Cost out productions, analyze designs, develop execution plans, and manage purchasing and rentals. Serve as costume coordinator for the Southern Arena Theatre and oversee all costume production aspects. Supervise student workers in various roles. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Theatre with emphasis in Costume Design and/or Technology from an accredited institution and at least one year of related management experience in a costume shop. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Ability to operate and maintain sewing machines and sergers Ability to manage costume shop equipment including sewing tools, irons, dye vats, washing machines, and dry cleaning racks Skilled in costume technology such as draping, pattern drafting, fitting, and finishing Ability to train and supervise student crews during rehearsals and performances Ability to manage budgets and adhere to university policies Preferred Qualifications

MFA in costume design and/or technical theatre preferred. About The University of Southern Mississippi
