Overview McLean Contracting Company is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team in Glen Burnie, MD.

Responsibilities

Manage accounting and administrative duties related to the efficient maintenance of the general ledger; ensure the department's processes and functions run smoothly and that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhere to approved budgets.

Exercise strategic thinking and leadership in pursuit of company goals.

Champion continuous improvement in all areas, including safety, operations, and cost control.

Possess strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy; ability to multitask and manage priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.

Possess excellent interpersonal skills, effective verbal/listening communication, organizational and management abilities.

Display high proficiency in computer software programs such as Word, Excel, and database systems.

Support, communicate, and implement company policies and procedures to personnel as outlined in the Employee Handbook; advocate for improved procedures as necessary.

Perform a variety of entry-level bookkeeping and accounting tasks.

Reconcile general ledger accounts monthly, prepare monthly journal entries, perform account analysis, and produce reports as required.

Perform research on multiple transactions: job/cost revenue, accounts receivable and accounts payable.

Assist in the preparation of audit schedules.

Maintain the fixed asset and associated depreciation schedules; provide monthly detail to the Corporate Controller for general journal entries, and ensure proper recording of new purchases and disposals.

Carry responsibility for daily cash reconciliation, posting of cash entries and journal entries to the general ledger, cash receipts and check clearing.

Produce monthly bank reconciliations.

Assist with the monthly close process, as needed.

Maintain internal controls and seek to mitigate operational risks.

Education and/or Experience A degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field is highly preferred and three or more years of experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.

Other Skills and Abilities

Must be at least 18 years old, have reliable transportation to work, and be able to pass a drug screen and criminal history background check.
