Senior Tax Accountant | Indianapolis, IN Join our growing Tax team at Thompson Thrift as a Senior Tax Accountant. This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented tax professional who thrives in a collaborative real estate environment. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Tax, you will play a vital role in preparing, reviewing, and analyzing tax compliance and provision work. Responsibilities
Assist with fixed asset reconciliation. Conduct research on new tax jurisdictions (e.g., pass-through, franchise/excise, sales/use, and other specialty taxes). Support property disposition calculations and assess tax implications. Participate in tax busy season tasks: compile and review trial balances, prepare investor lists, coordinate with CPA firms, distribute Schedule K-1s, and manage signature collection and processing. Prepare tax workpapers for various entities including operating corporations, construction, and development companies. Assist in audit defense and manage inquiries from taxing authorities. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate data collection and reporting. Contribute to developing efficient tax strategies that minimize liabilities. Our Ideal Candidate
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. 4–6 years of progressive tax experience; background in state and local taxes and real estate or construction industry preferred. 2+ years in a public accounting firm. CPA license (or actively pursuing) strongly preferred. Proficiency with tax and ERP systems such as OneSource, CorpTax, or SAP. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Sound knowledge of: Tax compliance for Real Estate Partnerships and S-corporations State and local tax allocation and apportionment Partnership structures in real estate transactions MACRS/ADS depreciation methods for real estate assets Sales and use tax in construction and real estate Be part of a team that values excellence, leadership, and service.
