As our Senior Tax Accountant, your primary focus will be ensuring that the entire accounting operation adheres to best practices in tax and accounting principles. You will serve as the technical tax lead, motivating and guiding a team of accountants to utilize the best mechanisms, structures, and principles. Your role involves teaching others about tax implications, ensuring daily financial operations are accurate and compliant, and not just finalizing tax filings at the last minute. You will spend 10-20% of your time running the massive purple calculator, with the majority dedicated to teaching, guiding, follow-up, and implementation.
Key Tax Knowledge: You understand GILTI without looking it up, have experience with FDII, are comfortable with conservation easements, enjoy IP structuring, and are passionate about maximizing tax efficiency.
Position Details: This is a "Hybrid" role, requiring initial in-office training and onboarding, with occasional remote work. The role requires working in our Post Falls, Idaho office 2-3 days per week.
Wage and Benefits:
$165,000/year

Responsibilities:
Prepare and file tax returns and payments
Communicate with taxing authorities
Manage third-party audits
Coordinate annual reviews with external tax firms
Plan and implement worldwide tax structures
Manage business filings like property taxes and licenses
Ensure internal controls are in place to streamline tax processes
Monitor and adapt to new tax laws and regulations
Lead and mentor the tax accounting team
Optimize tax efficiencies within legal boundaries
Develop operational guidelines to reduce journal entries
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in accounting
10+ years of relevant experience
5+ years of team leadership
Experience with complex corporate tax decisions
Experience with multi-state corporate taxes
CPA or CMA license
Strong understanding of accounting principles
Experience at a professional tax firm and in-house at a growing business
Deep knowledge of federal and state taxation
Familiarity with Lacerte software
Growth mindset and ability to implement new tax laws
Willing to be vaccinated against COVID-19 if required
