Penn State - Assistant Professor of Theatre - History The School of Theatre in the College of Arts and Architecture at Penn State University is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Theatre History. The position includes full university benefits and a 3/2 teaching load (or equivalent), with responsibilities in theatre history, theory, or dramatic literature. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to curriculum development, maintain a strong record of research or creative activity, and participate in service within the university and professional communities. Required qualifications
A Ph.D. in Theatre, Performance Studies, or a related field. A strong commitment to teaching, research, and service. Experience or interest in teaching various undergraduate and MFA theatre courses. A track record or trajectory of publication or professional theatre work, and a commitment to a collaborative academic culture. Desired qualifications
Experience in global diasporic theatre practices (e.g., African, Asian, Latina/o/x, Indigenous traditions). Mentoring students. Engagement in creative practices such as playwriting or devising. Additional notes
The School of Theatre hopes this new addition will contribute to its undergraduate and graduate curricula, and participate as an artistic collaborator in mainstage season and student-driven projects. The Penn State School of Theatre offers undergraduate degrees including a BA in Theatre, BFA degrees in Acting, Musical Theatre, Design & Technology, and Stage Management, and an MFA in Theatre with Design, Technology, Music Directing, and Directing emphases. The University Park campus is located in State College, Pennsylvania. This area offers access to cultural, sports, and outdoor activities, with quick access to major cities on the East Coast.
